Speak
Speak. We all speak every single day. We communicate, we yell to catch someone's attention, we even use our words to sing. What we say has a lot of power. Proverbs 18:21 says that the tongue holds the power of life and death, and I've seen this first hand in my own life and in the lives of others.
"Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me" is the biggest lie I've ever heard. Often, words are the things that hurt us the very most. We remember what people say about us. We remember how it made us feel. We remember when someone compliments us.
What if we used our words to heal instead of hurt? If our words do indeed hold so much power, what does speaking in love and live look like on a constant basis?
Fear has no place in love or leadership. Our words shape who we are, who we become, and who we are asking others to be.
In children's ministry, we always try to speak in love. Even if we're irritated with a situation. Our words affect who these awesome kids become! Words are often something that we remember
years and years down the line.
The best example of speaking in love that we have is Jesus. Even when He was correcting someone, it was always in love. Jesus always places the heart of the person above the issue. Friends, may we do the same! May our words bring life into broken places, and heal those that are hurting that we meet each day.
Fear has no place in love or leadership.
As we journey through each day, may we speak like Jesus, exemplifying him to the very corners of the earth.
