I just had a birthday on October 11th. I am now 22. I have a family full of awesome, thoughtful gift-givers. Who loves getting gifts? Yeah, me too! Don't we all? Especially on our birthdays, it helps us to feel special. It shows us that we are appreciated and needed.

There are so many different contexts which we can use the word . . .
We live in a culture where fear is normal. Fear is the standard, and we hear it every single day on the news. Another mass shooting. Another hurricane. Another person abducted. Another house burned down in flames. Another flood. People hungry, people angry, people upset at the government.
Death. Destruction. Loss. Death. . . .
When I think about the word "purpose" the word "function" also quickly comes to mind. Everyone has a desire to feel useful. Everyone wants to know that their lives counted for something with their time on earth.
My dad always tells me, "Rachel, you are more than you know."
