Beyond the Veil
Today, I was thinking about the purpose of a veil. We see them on beautiful brides at weddings, and we see references to the veil time and time again in both the Old and New Testament. Veils are generally used to separate, or cover, so
meone or something. When I think of a veil, I think of mystery.
As I was thinking about veils, I thought about a wedding ceremony. Just before the officiator of the wedding says, "You may now kiss your bride!" The soon-to-be husband often lifts a veil off of his wife's face. This is my favorite part of any wedding--you can clearly see the adoration the couple share in this single moment. Love and trust flow between them as they think about the rest of their lives together.
I thought back to the veil in the Old Testament that separated man from God--only the high priest was allowed to be in His presence, and only with the right preparations! Then, flash forward to the New Testament-- the veil ripped in two when Jesus died, allowing ALL of us access to the Father. As I was reminded of this moment, The Lord whispered, "Why do you live as though the veil is still in place? Come beyond the veil."
Come beyond the veil.
As I was reflecting on this today, He gave me this poem.
Beyond the Veil
My sons,
My daughters,
My beloved...
You don't have to shy away from Me.
I see you,
Know you,
Love you,
Created you...
My heart,
My breath,
Is the very pulse of creation
Beckoning you deeper,
Beyond the veil.
Beyond the veil...
You were never meant to be satisfied with
Living powerlessly,
Never meant to be satisfied with
Blurry outlines and
Shaky foundations,
Never meant to live without seeing My face,
My heart for you...
Come into My throne room.
The veil was ripped in two for a reason...
Come into My throne room.
Feel My hands
Shake you,
Mold you,
Lift you,
Come beyond the veil
Into My throne room.
The Father wants to unveil our faces so we can clearly see His. In His love, He wants to remove the "veil mentality" from our hearts and minds. He is inviting us all to come beyond the veil and experience a fuller life in Him!
