Gratitude Day 13
What gift did you love receiving this year?
I love giving gifts. I love seeing the joy in someone's face while they open a present I carefully picked for them. It's such an awesome feeling watching their eyes light up while they open a present.
I also love receiving gifts, whatever they are. A gift can be anything. Art from my kids at work, someone taking their time to cook a meal for me, or even a simple hug on a hard day.
However, the gift that I loved receiving this year was one that I received on my birthday!
My backpack had been falling a part for a number of years. It was well-loved throughout high school and several of my college years. It had been sewn back together after breaking, but it had started to develop a hole in the bottom of it.
I really wanted a new backpack. New backpacks aren't cheap by any means, so I thought, "Oh, well. Maybe some day. Maybe after a couple of paychecks, just to be safe."
I was beyond blessed to celebrate my 21st birthday this year with a new backpack that my sister bought for me!
Gifts are precious, in whatever form they take. Whether material or not, gifts are just that: gifts. We don't have to earn them. We don't have to fight for them. They are freely given, just like the Father's love for us!
