I decided to go back and read Genesis today. We're all familiar with the story of Adam and Eve, right? Eve is tempted by the snake and is given the choice to eat the apple. Eve eats it, and encourages Adam to do the same. They become scared and hide. We've heard this story a million times.
But something struck me today as I was reading Genesis 3. The Lord asks Adam where he is, and Adam says, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid."
The Lord asks, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
The interesting thing to me here, in this passage, is that the Lord isn't yelling. He's just asking. And it hit me: how many times have I claimed an identity for myself? How many times have I declared myself worthless and unlovely when He, the King of ALL creation, says just the opposite about me? He calls me beautiful and loved!
I think this is applicable in so many situations! Who told you that you were ? Who told you that no one loved you? Who told you that your wildest dreams can't be accomplished? Who told you? Who, not what. The voice of the Father speaks truth in love. Truth in love doesn't come to steal, kill, and destroy. It comes to bring light and hope and joy. Voices of inadequacy, insecurity, and doubt are not from our Father!
Today, allow the Father to breathe new life into your body, your dreams, your finances. Allow Him to replace your negative identity with HIS truth and love!
